Second UNSC meet on Kashmir tonight after China push

| @indiablooms | Jan 16, 2020, at 12:14 am

New York/ IBNS: The United Nations Security Council(UNSC) will hold the second closed-door meeting on Kashmir in New York tonight, media reported

The meeting has been called after, Pakistan's all-weather friend China pushed for it. A similar meeting was held in August after the government scrapped Article 370 which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated the state into two union territories.

But, that meeting failed to draw an adverse reaction from the participating UNSC members- France, Russia, the US and the UK, except China which had called it.

Another meeting, which was scheduled for December, did not take place.

So far, the four countries have maintained that scrapping of Article 370 is India's internal matter.

Except China, the four members of the UNSC have also supported India's stand that the disputes between India and Pakistan are the bilateral issues of the two nations.
