Shani Shingnapur row: Digvijaya Singh congratulates women activists
The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister tweeted: "Ultimately Shani Shingananpur Temple Trust allows Women devotees to pray at the Shani Temple."
Another tweet from the Congress leader read: "Congratulations to all the Women Activists who made it possible. Keep it up."
On Friday, it was reported that around 100 male devotees barged into the temple, wanting to offer their prayers, defying orders that no one would be allowed to enter the shrine.
The temple first made the headlines in November, last year, when it reiterated its age old stance of not allowing female devotees to enter the shrine.
Meanwhile, in a landmark verdict by the Bombay High Court earlier this month, it asked the state government to prevent discrimination against women and allow devotees across gender types to offer prayers inside all the temples in the state.
