Sharad Pawar speaks to Uddhav Thackeray on the ill-timed demolition of Kangana Ranaut's office
Mumbai/IBNS: NCP chief Sharad Pawar met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Wednesday and communicated his disapproval over the action taken by the Shiv Sena-controlled civic body on actress Kangana Ranaut’s office in Mumbai's Pali Hill locality, media reports said.
In the meeting, the reports said that demolition of the office of film production company Manikarnika Films Pvt Ltd owned by Kangana Ranaut was not a state issue and should not be given importance.
"Illegal constructions not a new thing in Mumbai. But acting upon it at the backdrop of the on-going controversy, gives rise to questions. But BMC has their own reasons and rules and they acted as per them," the NCP chief said, reported NDTV.
"I have objection to media's coverage. Media made these things bigger. We should ignore such things," said Pawar.
The demolition timed with the return of the actress to Mumbai after a long stay in Manali in Himachal Pradesh seems to have backfired on Shiv Sena as the Bombay High Court put a stay on the demolition by BMC or the Brihannamumbai Municipal Corporation.
The court reprimanded the BMC for producing an extremely unclear sketch/drawing in its stop-work notice, adding that the unauthorized works could not be seen at all.
The court observed that BMC’s act was deplorable as it swiftly moved to bring down the alleged illegal parts of the actor’s office even as it was aware that a petition to stay the demolition would be brought before the court any time.
Rebuking the BMC, the Bombay High Court said had the civic body acted quickly on the innumerable illegal constructions across Mumbai, the city would have been a different place to live in.
