Mumbai, Mar 11 (UNI): The Shiv Sena on Monday condemned the act of using visuals of the soldiers on electoral campaign posters and penned an editorial in Saamana, stating that whipping up patriotic feelings of the electorate is equal to the Oppositions' demand of asking proof for Balakot airstrikes.
Criticising its' ally BJP and other such political parties, who have used these kind of tactics, the editorial read "those using the uniform and pictures of soldiers to seek votes are as guilty as those demanding proofs of the operations of the Armed Forces."
To corroborate its' objection, the editorial mentioned the instance, where BJP leader Manoj Tiwari, all dressed up in a military fatigue, confidently said that BJP will win the election.
The editorial further read "photographs have been published of BJP leader Manoj Tiwari donning Army uniform. This gives strength to the Oppositions' allegation that the Balakot airstrikes was done for political benefit."
Further, the editorial remarked that the visuals of Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who shot down the Pakistani fighter aircraft, are being used in electoral campaigns.
The editorial summarised that through all this, projection is being made, that since BJP was in power hence, it was possible to avenge the killings of 37 CRPF jawans martyred in Jammu and Kashmir on February 14, in a terror attack carried out by Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad.
"To use Army uniform for political benefit, is not appropriate,"affirmed the editorial.
