Shiv Sena questions NIA probe in Ambani security scare case

Mumbai/IBNS: The ruling Shiv Sena in Maharashtra has questioned the probe by National Investigation Agency and the arrest of cop Sachin Vaze in Mukesh Ambani security scare two days after Mumbai top cop Param Bir Singh was replaced.

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has said the decision was taken by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray after the probe revealed "unforgiveable lapses" but Shiv Sena mouthpiece "Saamna" came out in Param Bir Singh's support.

Shiv Sena said the 20 gelatin sticks found in the SUV on Carmichael Road did not explode but sent ripples through the administration and the political arena, causing Param Bir Singh to leave the office.

Media reports said that the case of explosives in the SUV near Mukesh Ambani's residence has also strained the relationship between the constituents of the ruling coalition--Shiv Sena and NCP.

The article in Saamna said Singh had led the Mumbai Police in difficult situations and maintained the morale of the police while facing attacks in Sushant Singh Rajputs's death investigation and bombarded by allegations by Kangana Ranaut. Lauding Singh's performance, the piece noted that the CBI could not really go beyond Mumbai Police even though the investigation was transferred to the Central probe agency.

It also pointed out the TRP scam that surfaced during his time and alleged that a powerful section in Delhi was angry with him for that.

The article dismissed the need for NIA probe in the case asserting that the agency probed terror activities across the country and in this case there was no terror angle.

It also questioned NIA's success in Uri, Pulwama and Pathankot attacks and asked how many accused have they arrested in these cases.

Hitting out at the BJP, it said the current opposition was using someone's death for its benefit though one of its own MPs, Ramswarup Sharma, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Delhi.
