Suicide vest, IEDs, ISIS flag among other incriminating materials found in Abu Yusuf's home in UP village
New Delhi/IBNS: At least two suicide vests and multiple explosive devices have been recovered from suspected ISIS terrorist Abu Yusuf 's home in Uttar Pradesh's Balrampur district, two days after his arrest from Delhi's Dhaula Kuan area.
The raid was conducted by the Delhi Police Special Cell officers who also found an ISIS flag and documents related to the terror group, an NDTV report said.
Police will have to file a charge sheet by September 17, which will include charges under UAPA (Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act), said the report.
Two pressure cookers turned into IEDs (improved explosive devices) containing 15 kg of explosives and a pistol with four cartridges were recovered, said the report, adding that two jackets containing seven explosive packets and a leather belt with around 3 kg of explosives were also seized.
Electric wires, lithium batteries and transparent tapes were also found apart from cylindrical metal containers packed with ball bearings and loaded with more bombs.
The report said that Yusuf had tested several small IEDs in the village burial ground.
The officers of the Delhi Police Special Cell conducted extensive questioning and search of his home after cordoning off his village on Saturday.
Soon after the arrest teams of NSG commandos and Bomb Disposal Squad were deployed to carry search operations in parts of Delhi.
Delhi DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police) Delhi Police Special Cell PS Kushwaha said Mustakeem Khan (alias Abu Yusuf) had plotted a terror-strike on Independence Day as he felt the security arrangements would be lax, but his attempt was foiled and he was nabbed.
He had surveyed several place in Delhi for a "lone wolf attack" he had plotted, the police officer said.
He said police were maintaining a close watch on Abu Yusuf and found he was "in touch with ISIS and directly in touch with its commanders".
Both the IEDs recovered were fully ready and only needed to be activated with a timer, he added.
