New Delhi, Mar 30 (IBNS): Defending herself being called as 'Chowkidar', Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj on Saturday said she is guarding the interests of the Indian nationals abroad.

Sushma Swaraj, like several BJP leaders, have added the prefix Chowkidar to her Twitter name.

A netizen asked Sushma Swaraj: " Ma',m we thought you were our Foreign Minister. The only one most sensible in BJP. Why do you call yourself Chowkidar."

She replied: " Because I am doing Chowkidari of Indian interests and Indian nationals abroad."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi added the prefix few months back as he launched the 'Chowkidaar' campaign for his party.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has often targeted the PM by calling him as 'Chowkidaar chor hai' (The watchman is a thief) during his poll campaigns in recent times.
