New Delhi: Suspended Congress MP from Patiala Preneet Kaur, the wife of former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh, joined the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday ahead of the Lok Sabha Election.

She joined the party in New Delhi in the presence of BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawade, Tarun Chug, BJP State President, and Party's Punjab President Sunil Kumar Jakhar and other senior leaders.

Talking to the media after joining the party, Preneet Kaur said, "I will work for my state and the country under the leadership of PM Modi.

"I had a good innings with the Congress party and I hope I'll have a better innings with the BJP," she added.

Preneet Kaur was suspended by Congress in February 2023, on allegations of activities contrary to the party's interests.

Since then, Preneet had openly aligned herself with the saffron party in her stronghold of Patiala.
