Patna/UNI: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Tuesday directed the officials to increase beds in hospitals and ensure the availability of platelets in view of the spurt in Dengue cases besides taking all required measures to check the spread of the disease.

Kumar during a review meeting with senior officials directed the authorities concerned to take all required measures to check the spread of Dengue cases in Bihar.

The number of Dengue cases had increased recently, he noted.

"Number of beds in hospitals for Dengue patients should be increased to handle a large number of cases being reported from various parts of the state, particularly in Patna," the Chief Minister said adding that fogging and spraying of chemicals should be done on regular basis without any laxity to check the spread of Dengue cases in the state.

Availability of platelets, an important component of the treatment of Dengue cases, should be ensured in government hospitals and blood banks, he added.

Kumar expressed his concern over the increasing number of Dengue cases in Bihar and warned that no leniency at any level would be tolerated to face the challenge.

In the meeting, officials briefed him about the latest scenario arising out of the increased number of Dengue cases and also measures being taken by government machinery to handle the situation.
