Kolkata: Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL), a Tata Power group company is partnering with the Kolkata Airport Authorities to establish EV charging points at the airport.

The formal inauguration of four EV chargers (DC-CCS2 and single-gun GB/T chargers) took place on Tuesday in the presence of Airport Director, Kolkata, C Pattabhi, and Virendra Goyal, Head of Business Development for EV Charging at Tata Power, along with Ramkrishna Singh, Head of Business Operations, EV Charging, Tata Power.

On the occasion, a formal agreement was inked between the Airport Authorities of India and Tata Power. These chargers are suitable to charge all electric cars available in the country.

In the inauguration ceremony, Virendra Goyal, Head of Business Development (EV Charging) at Tata Power stated, "Our collaboration with Kolkata Airport places us at the forefront of building a robust EV charging network in the city and the nearby areas.”

C Pattabhi, Airport Director, Kolkata, commended Tata Power's initiatives as a significant stride towards advancing sustainable mobility. “The installation of EV charging infrastructure in public parking areas not only enhances convenience for electric vehicle users but also signifies a steadfast commitment to environmental conservation.”

The site selection for these charging stations underwent meticulous planning, prioritizing convenience and accessibility for EV users who commute to the airport or nearby vicinity.

Given the airport's prominent position as one of the city's bustling hubs, these chargers are strategically positioned to offer unparalleled convenience to the public, effectively addressing concerns related to EV range anxiety.

Tata Power has already made substantial strides, with a total of 50+ public and semi-public charging points installed across Kolkata. It solidifies its position as the largest EV charging point operator in India, boasting nearly 60% market share.

Tata Power's extensive nationwide network comprises over 58,000 home chargers, 4,800 public and semi-public charging points, and 430 bus charging stations, spanning 420+ cities and continually expanding its reach.
