Hyederabad, Aug 22 (IBNS) : At least ten people were killed and 30 injured after a bus in which they were travelling, fell into a canal off a bridge in Telengana's Khammam district in the wee hours of Monday.

According to reports,  seven people were killed on the spot and three died in the hospital.

Two cranes were brought in to pull out the bus from the canal.

The  tragedy occurred near Nayakangudem when the bus, belonging to a private travel company, lost control and fell into Nagarjunasagar canal.

The bus, carrying about 42 passengers, was on its way from Hyderabad to Kakinada via Khammam.

Three  ambulances were  called in to shift all the injured persons to a government hospital in Khammam.

The survivors reportedly told the police that the bus was running on a very high speed. The driver allegedly applied suddend brake on reaching the bridge and it resulted in the bus overturning and falling into the canal.
