Thousands of TET teachers stage agitation programme in Guwahati
Guwahati, June 29 (IBNS): Thousands of Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) qualified teachers on Saturday staged agitation programme in Assam’s capital city Guwahati.
The teachers demanded the state government to regularise their services along with security without any pre-condition.
The TET-qualified teachers had taken ‘Dispur Chalo’ agitation programme but the district administration and police prevented them to carry out their move.
The teachers staged their protests at Khanapara veterinary play ground.
Tight security arrangements were made for the agitation programme to control law and order situation.
There are over 42,000 teachers across the state, who passed the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) examination seven years ago, but their services are yet to be regularised.
“Today we 42,000 TET teachers have staged protest, because of the state government does not do anything for us. We have passed the TET examination seven years before, but the state government hasn’t regularised our services and not fulfil their promises. The BJP had mentioned their election manifesto that, they will regularise our services if they come to power. But they didn’t do anything. We will continue our agitation till our demands are fulfilled,” an agitating teacher said.
