Three killed, over 20 injured in Bihar's Gopalganj stampede

Patna/IBNS/UNI: At least three people, including a child, were killed and more than 20 injured in a stampede at a Durga Puja pandal in Gopalganj district of Bihar.

Superintendent of Police Swarna Prabhat on Tuesday said that the incident took place near a crowded pandal in the Raja Dal locality of the town during the prasadam distribution.

He said people were in the queue to get the prasadam when suddenly a child fell down and two elderly women tried to protect him but in due course, the stampede broke out.

According to him, the 5-year-old child and two elderly women who tried to protect him died in the incident.

The injured were given treatment at Gopalganj Sadar Hospital.
