Tipu's flag ignites fresh controversy in Karnataka

Controversies surrounding flag hoisting seem not to ebb down in Karnataka. The latest row in this regard is Tipu Sultan's flag hoisting at Ambedkar Park in Mysuru.

This has prompted Mysuru-Kodagu MP and BJP leader Pratap Simha to question Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara about granting permissions.

"Siddaramaiah, Parameshwara, who has permitted hoisting the Tipu flag at Ambedkar Park on Mottekeri Srinivasa Temple Road in Kailasapuram, Mysuru? Please answer Siddaramaiah and Parameshwara," Simha said in a post on X.

The fresh controversy springs from the ongoing row over the removal of Hanuman Dhwaj from a flagpost in Keragodu village in Mandya district by the local administration.

Subsequently, protests were staged by the BJP and JDS workers, flaying the Congress government in Karnataka for being anti-Hindu and hurting the sentiments of Hindus. They demanded the re-hoisting of Hanuman Dhwaj.
