Tributes pour in on 13th anniversary of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks; Prez Kovind, other leaders pay homage to Martyrs

New Delhi/UNI: President Ram Nath Kovind and other leaders on Friday paid their tributes to the martyrs and victims on the 13th anniversary of (26/11) Mumbai terror attacks.

In his message, President Kovind said, “My heartfelt tributes to the martyrs and homage to the victims of the 26/11 #MumbaiTerror Attack. The nation will always be grateful for the bravery and sacrifice of the security forces who laid down their lives in the line of duty.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tributes and saluted the courage of all security personnel who bravely faced the terrorists during these cowardly attacks.

“Heartfelt tributes to those who lost their lives in the Mumbai 26/11 terror attacks and salute the courage of all the security personnel who bravely faced the terrorists in the cowardly attacks. The whole nation will be proud of your bravery. A grateful nation will always be indebted to your sacrifice,” he tweeted.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in his message said, our security forces displayed exemplary courage during 26/11 attacks.
“On the 13th anniversary of the November 26th terror attack on Mumbai, we remember the innocent lives we lost. My tributes to everyone who lost their lives in those attacks. Our security forces displayed exemplary courage during 26/11 attacks. I salute their bravery & sacrifice,” he said.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also paid his tribute to the “heroes” of 26/11.

Referring to our valiant Jawans, he said “Protects the country by staying away from the family in difficult weather at the border. Saves the innocent by risking his life in terrorist attack. He cares about the world without bothering about his own life, our Jawan is the pride of the family, the village and the nation. Salute to the heroes of 26/11 #MumbaiTerror Attack. Jai Hind!”

He also shared a two-minute video of the pictures of all the martyrs who gave the supreme sacrifice in the attacks that shook the country's financial capital Mumbai on this day in 2008.

On Nov 26, 2008, ten Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists from Pakistan arrived by sea route and opened fire, killed around 166 people, including 18 security personnel, and injuring several others in different locations in Mumbai.

During the operation, anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare, Army Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Mumbai's Additional Police Commissioner Ashok Kamte, were among those who were killed in the attack.
