Two militants killed in Kashmir gun battle

| | Apr 07, 2016, at 04:48 pm
Srinagar, Apr.7 (IBNS) Two militants were killed during a gun battle with security forces in a village in Shopian district of South Kashmir early on Thursday.
An official said that two top Hizb militants  were trapped in a house in Vihil village of the district.

“The house was cordoned off by the forces. But the duo tried to flee from the cordon and opened fire on forces. After security forces retaliated, the militants  were killed in a field outside the village,” the official said.

Police said one militant was identified to be a former cop, who had run away with his weapons  from former Works minister Altaf Bukhari's residence in Srinagar last year.
