Two women tourists from Bengal among three killed after their car fell in gorge in Sikkim

Darjeeling/UNI: Two women tourists from Bengal were among three people killed and nine others injured when their charted Sumo car fell into a deep gorge in Sikkim day, police said.

The deceased identified as Jharna Saha (48), a resident of Barasat under North 24 Parganas and Hrishpriya Ghosh (13) of Murari Pukur Road Kolkata and driver Suraj Chettri Manzing, Lingmoo, South Sikkim.

The injured included Taposh Saha 46, Narayan Ghosh 52, Subrato Das 18, Kunjala Saha 35, Debjani Saha, Mithu Ghose, Rishi Ghose, Anu Ghose and Raja Saha. All are residents of Barasat.

The accident happened when their chartered sumo on way to Rongli from Juluk fell off the road after a boulder from uphill fell on the vehicle and rolled into a deep gorge at East Sikkim.

The mishap happened around this noon. All the injured have been admitted to Rangoli hospital.
