Underage couple commits suicide in Kolhapur

Kolhapur: In a shocking incident, an underage couple from two different communities committed suicide together by hanging themselves by the same rope and posting the story on Instagram in Kolhapur city of Maharashtra.

The incident occurred early Saturday morning at Pulachi-Shiroli in Hatkanagale tehsil of this district.

According to MIDC Shiroli police, the deceased couple, identified as Sanika Nanaso Nikam (16) and Arbaz Shabbir Pakale (18), both residents of Renuka Nagar in Pulachi-Shiroli, were in love and wanted to marry, but both their family members opposed it.

So both took the extreme step of committing suicide by hanging themselves at Arbaz's residence and posting detailed messages about their lives on Instagram.

In their messages, both said, "Be ready to die with someone you love or don't love at all. Don't fall in love based on caste and religion; not everyone is the same," she wrote, posting a photo.

The police are investigating further.
