Unnao rape: SIT visits victim's village, BJP MLA's wife seek narco test
New Delhi, Apr 6 (IBNS): The Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed to probe the Unnao gangrape case and the suspicious death of the 16-year-old rape victim's father, visited the site of the alleged crime on Wednesday to begin fresh enquiry in the case, media reports said.
The SIT was directed to submit initial reports of its investigation before Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday evening.
The team visited the crime spot and the tree where the rape victim’s father was tied up and thrashed.
The investigators also spoke to the victim, her mother, uncle and other family members.
They also had a talk with the suspended and other policemen posted at Makhi Police Station.
The SIT was formed on Tuesday to investigate the case after the father of the girl, who had alleged being raped by a BJP lawmaker and attempted suicide outside Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's home on Sunday, died on Monday morning at the district hospital.
The autopsy report revealed that the father died to septicaemia.
According to the postmortem report, the father was not given proper treatment in the judicial custody.
The man was in judicial custody after a complaint was filed against his daughter's alleged rapists.
The girl had alleged that she was raped by Kuldeep Singh Sengar, the BJP legislator from Unnao, and his brother last year, but the police refused to take any action against them.
She also claimed that her family was being threatened after they tried to file an FIR.
Earlier on Tuesday, the brother of Sengar was arrested by the police.
Meanwhile, Sengar's wife, who met UP DGP OP Singh in Lucknow on Wednesday, demanded a CBI probe into the matter.
She also sought a narco test on her husband and the survivor to bring the "truth" out.
Sangeeta Sengar told reporters that there was a political conspiracy against her family.
It has been alleged that last week the woman's father was assaulted by Sengar and his brother. But instead of booking them, an FIR was filed against the victim and he was arrested by the Unnao police.
On Sunday, when the man complained of abdominal pain, he was admitted to the district hospital where he died on Monday, media reports said.
On Sunday, the woman, along with other members of her family attempted suicide in protest against the "inaction" of police.
