UP Polls: 21.79% voting till 11 am

Lucknow/UNI; An estimated 21.79% of the electorate voted till 11 am on Thursday in the sixth and second last phase of the staggered Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in 57 constituencies spread across 10 districts.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer, the maximum of 23.42% votes were polled in Siddharth Nagar district while Balrampur saw a voter turnout of 18.98%.

Among other districts, 23.10% votes were polled in Ambedkar Nagar, 21.87% in Ballia, 19.58% in Deoria, 23.33% in Basti, 21.81% in Gorakhpur, 23.24% in Kushinagar, 21.12% in Maharajganj and 20.83% in Sant Kabir Nagar.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer B D R Tiwari said there were initially complaints related to electronic voting machines but they were fixed on time.

"Polling continues peacefully," he said.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath voted on Thursday in Gorakhpur's primary school in Gorakhnath Kanya Nagar area.

He is contesting from the Gorakhpur Sadar seat.
