Uproar in Lok Sabha over detention of Farooq Abdullah
New Delhi/UNI/IBNS: The first day of the parliament's winter session in Lok Sabha on Monday commenced on a stormy note with opposition leaders demanding the release of detained former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah.
As soon after the obituary references finished, opposition members from Congress, National Conference and DMK raised the issue of release of the former Jammu and Kashmir CM.
The Congress, DMK and National Conference Members entered the well of the House and raised slogans 'we want justice', ‘Tanashahi nahi chalegi’ (dictatorship will not be accepted) and ‘vipaksh pe hamla bandh'.
Congress Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, "Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Aug 5 assured that Farooq Abdullah was not detained. But even after 108 days, he is still under detention. What kind of injustice is this?"

Chowdhury also said Abdullah and Congress leader P Chidambaram, who is presently in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)'s custody over INX Media case, should be allowed to attend the parliament's winter session as they have a "constitutional obligation".
Referring to an European delegate's visit to Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress MP from West Bengal said, "We are not allowed to visit Jammu and Kashmir. This is an insult to all the Indian parliamentarians."
Abdullah was kept under detention since Aug 5 when the Centre abrogated Articles 370 and 35A to withdraw Jammu and Kashmir's special status.
