Uproar in Lok Sabha over para teachers' agitation in West Bengal

| @indiablooms | Nov 22, 2019, at 05:22 pm

New Delhi, Nov 22 (UNI) The Lok Sabha witnessed uproar on Friday during the Zero Hour after BJP MPs from West Bengal raised the issue of the death of a female teacher, one of the para teachers, who had been agitating for ten days over salary and service conditions in the State.

The BJP members accused the State government of being insensitive to teachers.

The issue was raised by BJP MP from West Bengal Locket Chatterjee.

She made a reference about the ongoing agitation by the para teachers in the state which started from November 12.

"We demand an investigation in the issue," she said while referring to the ongoing agitation by the para teachers in the state. She also raised the matter of death of a female teacher, which lead to a hunger strike carried out by teachers and students and thereafter hospitilisation of five to six people.

She also alleged that there was a breakdown in law and order in West Bengal.

All BJP MPs from Bengal supported the issue raised by Locket Chatterjee.

In an counter attack, AITC members in the House raised from their seats and said they completely disagree with the allegations made by the BJP MP.

The para teachers in West Bengal have been sitting on hunger strike for the last 10 days in Central Park, Kolkata, demanding salary hike.
