US restricts India's special flights citing 'unfair and discriminatory practices'
Washington/New Delhi/IBNS: The United States on Monday restricted all special flights from India meant for repatriation of its citizens citing "unfair and discriminatory practices."
The Transport Department has alleged that India has been operating special flights for repatriation but also selling tickets to the public, violating a treaty which governs aviation between the two nations.
The department further alleged India was also not allowing US airlines to operate.
The order will become effective in 30 days, the department said.
Several Indian citizens are stranded in various parts of the world including the US due to the anti-Covid-19 lockdown which commenced on Mar 24 midnight.
India had begun the "Vande Bharat Mission" to repatriate all its stranded citizens.
