Uttar Pradesh: Dreaded criminals shot dead in Meerut

Meerut/UNI: Police gunned down a dreaded criminal, who had a bounty of Rs 1.50 lakh on his head, in an encounter under TP Nagar police station, here on Sunday.

IG police Pravin Kumar said that a police head constable Manoj Dikshit was also injured in the encounter.

SSP Ajay Kunar Sahani escaped unhurt as the bullets fired by the criminals hit the bullet proof jacket of the officer.

The IG said that the criminal Chand alias Kale, on whom state police had announced a reward of Rs 1.50 lakh, was killed in police firing during the encounter while one criminal escape from the scene.


Police has recovered a carbine, one double barrel gun and large number of cartridges.
