V. Muraleedharan to visit Vatican City today

New Delhi: V. Muraleedharan, Minister of State for External Affairs, will be visiting the Vatican City on Oct 12-13, officials said.

He will lead the Indian delegation at the Canonisation Ceremony of Sister Mariam Thresia, read a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday.

Sister Mariam Thresia was born on 26 April 1876 in Thrissur, Kerala.

She founded the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family in Thrissur in May 1914.

She passed away on 8 June 1926. On 9 April 2000, she was beatified by Pope John Paul II.

The Canonisation of Sister Mariam Thresia would take place on 13 October 2019.
