Guwahati, June 20 (IBNS): The sleuths of Assam police Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (V&AC) on Tuesday arrested an Education department official from Upper Assam’s Sivsagar district after allegedly taking bribe.

A team of V&AC had arrested red handed the official from the Sivsagar District Elementary Education Officer (DEEO) office.

The arrested official was identified as Dharani Gogoi, who served as a Upper Divison Clerk (UDA) in the office.

According to the reports, several officials of the elementary education office have allegedly taken bribes from the teachers to sanction files and few allegations were submitted to the higher authorities against the corrupted officials.

Several teachers under Sonari Block Elementary Education Officer (BEEO) office  in newly created Charaideo district alleged that the BEEO and some officials would not recommended files if any teacher fail to provide demanded bribes.

V&AC had arrested over 30 officials under Assam state government in connection with taking bribe cases in the state in past five months.
