Vice President condoles the passing away of Justice Leila Seth

New Delhi, May 6 (IBNS): Vice President of India M. Hamid Ansari has condoled the passing away of former Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court, Justice Leila Seth.

In his message, he said that Justice Seth blazed a trail for women in the legal field, and that she will be long remembered for her commitment to protecting human rights in India. 

Following is the Text of Vice President’s message: 

“I am deeply grieved to learn of the demise of Justice Leila Seth, former Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court.

As the first woman judge on the Delhi High Court and the first woman to become Chief Justice of a state High Court, she blazed a trail for women in the legal field. She will be long remembered for her commitment to protecting human rights in India.

I convey my sincere condolences to the bereaved members of the family and join the nation in praying for eternal peace for the departed soul.”
