Watershed moment for India: Narendra Modi tweets on President Droupadi Murmu's oath
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday described Droupadi Murmu taking oath as the President of the country as a ' watershed moment for India'.
"The entire nation watched with pride as Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji took oath as the President of India. Her assuming the Presidency is a watershed moment for India especially for the poor, marginalised and downtrodden. I wish her the very best for a fruitful Presidential tenure," he tweeted.
Modi tweeted: "In her address after taking oath, President Droupadi Murmu Ji gave a message of hope and compassion. She emphasised on India's accomplishments and presented a futuristic vision of the path ahead at a time when India is marking Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav."

Former Jharkhand Governor and ex-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Droupadi Murmu sworn in as the 15th Indian President and first from the tribal community Monday.

Murmu, who was once a tribal face of the current ruling BJP, was sworn in by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana in Parliament's Central Hall at 10:15 am.
Murmu's swearing-in ceremony was attended by outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ministers, all MPs et al.
