Kolkata/Hooghly, Mar 27 (IBNS): A 50-year-old railway staff was killed by snatchers at Konnagar Station Road under Uttarpara Police Station area in West Bengal's Hooghly district on Sunday early morning, reports said.

According to reports, Eastern Railway's staffer, Jai Prakash Gupta, was going to Howrah to join his duty, when he was attacked by 4-5 snatchers at around 4:30 am. When he tried to prevent the miscreants from snatching, he was stabbed badly.

Jai Prakash Gupta was rushed to Uttarpara State General Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

The miscreants, however, fled from the spot, after looting Jai Prakash's purse and mobile phone. Locals alleged that it was a very common incident in the area and four more people were stabbed and looted by the same miscreants on Sunday morning.
