West Bengal: 1200 Kgs of Ammonium nitrate and 1000 detonators found in unauthorised go-down in Birbhum

Seuri, Jul 10 (UNI) About 1200 kgs of ammonium nitrate and 1000 detonators were today seized from an unauthorised go-down by the Birbhum police and three drum full of crude bombs were found during frisking in trouble prone areas in the district, official sources said.

Birbhum district police has been launching search operations for explosives and ammunition across the district after a series of explosions occurred and abandoned crude bombs were found in many trouble prone areas in the past weeks.


In a latest seizure police today confiscated some 1200 kgs of ammonium nitrate and 1000 detonators from an unauthorised and unclaimed go-down at Rampurhat, a commercial town connecting northern and southern districts of Bengal.


In a separate seizure police got three drum full crude bombs at Bhandirbon near the Seuri town. Each drum contained at least 40/50 bombs police said and called the bomb disposal squad for diffusion.


Police deployed reinforcement at Sahapur under Sadaipur where two groups of TMC men involved in clashes over the return of "cut money" from a rival panchayat member.


Police said random bombs were used in the clashes and some people have been detained in this connection.
