West Bengal: 4 killed as truck rams into auto rickshaw in South 24 Parganas

Kolkata, Mar 3 (IBNS): A speeding truck reportedly collided head-on with an auto rickshaw at Chanditala More area under Bishnupur Police Station in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district in the wee hours of Friday, killing at least four people and leaving two others injured.

According to reports, the auto rickshaw, which was going to Amtala from Falta, was hit by a dumper on NH-117 at around 2:30 am.

The driver of the autorickshaw and five passengers were seriously injured in the mishap and rushed to a nearby hospital, where four of them were declared dead.

Two injured persons were shifted to a Kolkata hospital later as their health conditions deteriorated.

Police has seized the truck but the driver and his helper are still absconding.
