West Bengal: 8 die after drinking 'hooch' in East Midnapore

Kolkata, Sept 27 (IBNS): At least eight men were killed allegedly after drinking spurious liquor at Narikeldah area under Moyna Police Station in West Bengal's East Midnapore district, officials said on Sunday.

According to reports, few men drunk liquor and they fall sick. They were taken to hospital in Tamluk area for treatment.

Eight of them died in the hospital and four others are being treated there in critical condition.

East Midnapore SP Alok Rajoria told IBNS: "Four persons died yesterday and four others have died today. One person is being treated at a local hospital in Tamluk and three others have been shifted to Purba Medinipur Zilla Hospital. This case is still under investigation. After the investigation, we will clarify what exactly happened there."

However, police have started investigation into the case and two persons have been arrested so far.
