West Bengal court sentences man to death for killing 4 children
Mentioning the killing as a rarest crime, judge Subhasish Ghosh sentenced the accused in the case, Hadi Qureshi, to death.
Earlier on Nov 14 in 2011, Hadi Qureshi, resident of Howrah's Tikiapara area, reportedly murdered four children by throwing them from running train, while the train was approaching to Mahishrekha railway bridge on Damodar river near Bagnan railway station in Howrah district.
A day after the incident, police recovered the bodies of those children from river's bank and had started investigation into the matter.
After committing the crime, Qureshi fled to Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh.
Police and West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested him on Nov 21, when Qureshi returned back to the same location to commit suicide.
During interrogation Hadi Qureshi accepted that he murdered his three children as he believed that those children was not his. Qureshi also told the police that he killed the fourth one to remove the only witness of his crime.
However, without supporting Qureshi, his family members welcomed the verdict.
