West Bengal govt. announces two-day public holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr celebration
Earlier the government declared Wednesday as Eid holiday in the state. But publishing another notification on Tuesday, the state government announced to extend Eid-ul-Fitr holiday by one more day.
According to the statement, "The state government had earlier declared 6th July (Wednesday) to be a holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. It is now gathered that Eid-ul-Fitr festival may fall on 7th July (Thursday)."
"In view of the uncertainty associated with the date of celebration of the festival, the Governor is pleased to declare 7th July (Thursday) also to be a public holiday under the Negotiable Instrument Act," the statement further said.
