Kolkata, Jun 23 (IBNS): Several houses and motorcycles were set on fire during a clash between two groups of Trinamool Congress (TMC) at Basanti area in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district on Friday, reports said.

According to reports, supporters of state's ruling party's two rival groups engaged in a skirmish with each other at Kanthalberia Kaltala area under Basanti Police Station limits in South 24 Parganas in the morning.

Several crude bombs were hurled and few houses, shops and bikes were torched during the hour-long violence.

At least four persons were seriously injured in the tussle.

Later, a heavy police force along with Rapid Action Force (RAF) rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control.

A local police official told IBNS that several crude bombs were recovered from the area.

Local TMC leaders denied that there was any clash between their two groups.

"The incident was not an outcome of TMC's group tussle and CPI-M goons were involved in the violence," a TMC leader told IBNS.
