After being accused of cheating Sushant, Rhea says 'truth shall prevail'

Mumbai/IBNS: After being named in an FIR by Sushant Singh Rajput's father and being accused of cheating and abandoning the later actor, actress Rhea Chakraborty broke her silence on Friday in a video message where she said: "truth shall prevail."

In the video, a white salwar-clad Rhea with her hands folded and her face tear-stained said: "I have immense faith in god and the judiciary. I believe that I will get justice. Even though a lot of horrible things are being said about me on the electronic media, I refrain from commenting on the advice of my lawyers as the matter is sub-judice."

She ended her message saying "Satyamev Jayate...the truth shall prevail."

The response comes days after she has been named as accused in an FIR filed by Sushant Singh Rajput's father KK Singh at Rajiv Nagar Police Thana in Patna.

Sushant was found dead at his Mumbai's Bandra home on June 14. The Mumbai Police had called it a suicide but later started an investigation into the death after allegations of foul play surfaced.

His father had accused Rhea, who was reportedly dating the late actor and was in a-live-in-relationship with him, of cheating Sushant and eventually driving him to commit suicide.

Singh had also alleged that Rhea had taken money and then abandoned his son.

Rhea was already among those 40 people questioned by the Mumbai Police in connection with the probe which also included Sushant's co-stars, psychiatrist, filmmakers Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Aditya Chopra and Shekhar Kapoor among others.

Sushant, who was undergoing mental depression in the last six months of his life, had reportedly lost a number of Bollywood projects in a few months' time.

His father, however, in the FIR, claimed that Sushant had no mental issues before he met Rhea in 2019.

He said that the doctors who treated Sushant were even known to Rhea.

However, Sushant's CA has rubbished the allegations of financial mishandling by Rhea, contrary to the claims made by the 'Dil Bechara' star's family, media reports said.

Sushant's CA Sandeep Sridhar told an English news channel that no major sum of money was transferred to actress Rhea Chakraborty's account except a few thousand.

Stating that Sushant did not have a huge bank balance, Sridhar said Rhea's mother had instead once credited Rs. 33,000 to the actor's account.

Sridhar said Sushant's bank balance was not very huge as it has been claimed.
