After Melbourne, Piku picks up honours at Indian Film Festival in Russia

Mumbai, Sept 24 (IBNS): MSM Motion Pictures' much celebrated family comedy drama, Piku continues its dream run at the film festivals abroad.
After sweeping the top honours at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne in Australia, the film has now bagged Best Film and Best Director awards at Indian Film Festival in Russia that took place at Formula Kino Horizont and was witnessed by a 2000 plus strong audience.

Piku, which turned out to be one of the biggest hits of 2015 and has been critically acclaimed globally, was helmed by Shoojit Sircar and top lined by actors Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan.

Piku's continued success at international festivals is an evidence of the film's universal connect. A quirky yet heart-warming tale of father-daughter relationship, the film's win at Russia is particularly significant since it was showcased to a largely non-diaspora audience.

Commenting on the film's success Shoojit Sircar added, "I am truly humbled by all the love and accolades coming our way. I am thankful to Team Piku for all the hardwork that went into making it a memorable experience for all of us."

Producer Sneha Rajani, Dy.President and Head, MSM Motion Pictures said, “We are extremely grateful for Piku’s  glorious wins at the festivals abroad.  We thank the organisers of the Indian Film Festival in Russia for this honour. The film has been a  labour of love for all of us. We thank Shoojit Da and writer Juhi Chaturvedi for bringing alive the world of Piku. It’s been a great partnership with Rising Sun Films and Saraswati Entertainment. For us at MSM Motion Pictures, the critical and commercial success of Piku reinforces our faith in the philosophy that content is the king!”

Piku was co-produced by MSM Motion Pictures, Saraswati Entertainment and Rising Sun Films. The film was distributed worldwide by Yash Raj Films.
