B-town, Indian cricket skipper laud PM Modi's call for 'Janata curfew' this Sunday

Mumbai/IBNS: Leading personalities from Hindi film fraternity and other profession on Thursday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for 'Janata Curfew' on coming Sunday to contain the spread Novel Coronavirus outbreak in the country as the nation already witnessed four deaths and 186 infected cases.

PM Modi addressing the nation on Thursday urged all to adopt resolve and restraint to fight the menace of the virus and directed them to observe 'Janata curfew' coming Sunday by staying home from 7 AM to 9 PM, to help contain the infection spread.

"We need 'Janata curfew' right now which means people have to stay indoors," the PM announced.

"This Sunday from 7 AM to 9 PM, all citizens must observe Janata curfew. This small step will be taken for the welfare of the country," he said.

Coming out in his support, actor Ajay Devgn tweeted: "Fellow Indians, Namaskar Folded hands A short while ago, Our PM Saab, Modiji, requested all of us to show resolve & restraint in the face of COVID-19. Please also adhere to the Janta Curfew on 22nd March by staying home. Stay Safe Folded hands @PMOIndia @narendramodi  #JantaCurfew."

Actor Akshay Kumar hailed the initiative and tweeted: "An excellent initiative by PM @narendramodi ji...this Sunday, March 22 from 7 am to 9 pm let’s all join in the #JantaCurfew and show the world we are together in this. #SocialDistancing."

Indian cricket sensation Virat Kohli praised Modi's announcement and posted on Twitter: "Be alert, attentive and aware to combat the threat posed by the Covid 19. We, as responsible citizens, need to adhere to the norms put in place for our safety as announced by our Honourable Prime Minister Shri@NarendraModiji. #IndiaFightsCorona."

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt posted in solidarity: "Janta Curfew: Social distancing. Staying apart to put things together . #Jantacurfew."

Praising the move, actor Riteish Deshmukh wrote: "Hon. PM Shri narendramodiji  announces 'janta curfew' on 22 March, from 7am to 9pm. He also appeals to all to work from home as much as possible & adopt social distancing. Senior citizens above 60 to stay at home for next 2 weeks. Let’s do this as one nation. #IndiaFightsCorona"

Actress Shilpa Shetty lauded and tweeted: "A very important announcement made by respected @narendramodi  ji with self isolation we must practice self discipline. #jantacurfew Be Positive and responsible Jai Hind Folded hands."

Actress Nimrat Kaur tweeted: "Quintessential to follow every word of the address by our Prime Minister @narendramodi ji. #JantaCurfew on March 22nd, Sunday from 7am to 9pm.And a display of our love and gratitude by applauding all those serving the affected tirelessly from our homes at 5pm. #IndiaFightsCorona."

Actor Varun Dhawan posted: "I will take part in the #jantacurfew  on March 22 nd and at 5 in the evening will show my support to our selfless heroes fighting this virus. This is a time to be one and practise #SocialDistancing. Let’s follow our prime ministers appeal. #BeSafe"
