Bollywood actor Vikram Gokhale dies at 77, Akshay Kumar-Anupam Kher mourn

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Vikram Gokhale, who is known for his performance both in TV and the big screen, died on Saturday, leaving the film industry in a state of sadness.

He was 77.

The actor died in Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital due to multi organ failure.

Actor Anupam Kher tweeted: "News of his death has deeply saddened me. He was a very dear friend! BRILLIANT actor & person! ओम शांति!"

Actor Akshay Kumar said: "Very sad to know of the demise of Vikram Gokhale ji. Worked with him in films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Mission Mangal, had so much to learn from him. Om Shanti."

Actor Rahul Dev said: "Saddened to learn that #VikramGokhale ji is no more. A true gentleman and a complete actor ... his craft lent dignity to all his roles. Fortunate to have worked with him.My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. Shine on Sir."

Gokhale was an Indian film, television and stage actor, noted for his roles in Marathi theatre, Hindi films and television.

He was the son of Marathi theater and film actor, Chandrakant Gokhale.

Gokhale made his directorial debut in 2010, with the Marathi film Aaghaat.

Produced by Sprint Arts Creation in 2013, he won the National Film Award for Best Actor category for his Marathi film Anumati.

He has worked in several movies like Agneepath (1990), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007).
