Chandrayaan-3 success: Amitabh Bachchan says 'today India is first world'

Mumbai/IBNS: In sync with the entire country, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan is on top of the Moon after India's lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 made a successful soft landing on the South Polar region of Earth's only natural satellite.

In a heartwarming post, big B wrote: "For far too long when India was referred to, it was spoken of as a third world country and I hated it. Today I am proud to say India is first world in more ways than one."

He signed off with "Bharat Mata ki jai" and "Vande Mataram" written in Hindi.

While India may still not be "first world," with this feat, India has joined the elite space club of Russia (then the Soviet Republic), the United States and China to land on the moon.

However, India created history by becoming the first country to land its lander near Moon's South Pole where traces of water were recently detected.

Chandrayaan-3's Lander Vikram touched down on the lunar surface at about 6 pm on Wednesday. The Pragyan Rover will spend the next 14 days relaying data and images from the surface of the moon.
