COVID 19 Outbreak: Shooting for all Bengali films, serials stopped from Mar 18 to 30

Kolkata/IBNS: Amid coronavirus outbreak across the globe, including India, shooting for all Bengali movies and TV serials will remain stopped from Mar 18 to 30, officials said on Tuesday.

Confirming the matter,  State Youth Welfare Minister Arup Biswas said: "The decision has been taken consulting with all parties including four Bengali channels Zee Bangla, Star Jalsa, Sun Bangla and Colors Bangla. Nothing is bigger than people' s lives."

"Artists who are busy in shooting outside the city or the country will be called back as soon as possible," he said.

Earlier,  all film bodies, including Indian Motion Pictures Producers' Association (IMPPA), Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and Indian Film & Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) on Sunday decided to halt shooting of all 'entertainment products' till Mar 31.

The shooting will be stopped from Mar 19.

Filmmaker and  IFTDA president Ashoke Pandit tweeted: "Film bodies #IMPPA #FWICE #IFTDA #WIFPA #IFPTC #ASAP in its meeting today decides to halt all the shootings of all entertainment products due to #CoronaVirus from this Thursday to 31st March. We stand by the concerns & follow the instructions of the Govt."

The decision on restarting the shooting will be taken on March 30, after considering the prevailing situation, Pandit said in a statement here.

India has recorded three deaths related to the Coronavirus outbreak so far.

No Coronavirus case has been reported from West Bengal till date.
