IFFI: Wong Kar-Wai to receive Lifetime Achievement Award
"Internationally renowned as an auteur for his visually unique, highly stylised, emotionally resonant work, including Days of Being Wild (1990), Ashes of Time (1994), Chungking Express (1994), Fallen Angels (1995), Happy Together (1997), 2046 (2004) and The Grandmaster (2013).My Blue berry Nights is Wong Kar-Wai’s only English language Film and In the mood for love is by far his most universally loved film," read a government statement.
In 1988, he debuted as a director with As Tears Go By. In 1997 he won the best director Award for Happy Together at the Cannes Film Festival.
Born in Shanghai in 1958, he moved to HongKong in 1963. He studied graphic design in Hong Kong polytechnic until 1980 and subsequently worked as a production assistant and assistant director for TV. Between 1982 and 1987, he also wrote screenplays for director Patrik Tam .
