Controversy in Nepal:

Nepal on Monday decided to ban the screening of Hindi (India's Bollywood ) movies in the country's capital city Kathmandu following a row over dialogues of the recently released movie Adipurush.

Nepal has reportedly objected to certain dialogues in the movie where Sita (Hindu goddess) was mentioned as 'India's daughter'.

According to reports, police were deployed in Kathmandu to ensure no Hindi film is screened in the city.

Kathmandu mayor Balendra Shah on Sunday said no Hindi film will be allowed to run in Kathmandu Metropolitan City until the dialogue "Janaki is a daughter of India" in Adipurush, a retelling of the Ramayana directed by Om Raut and featuring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, is removed not just in Nepal but also in India, reports Hindustan Times.

Apart from Kathmandu, Pokhara Metropolis mayor Dhanaraj Acharya also announced that the Indian movie will not be screened in the popular tourist destination from Monday.

Adipurush is a 2023 Indian mythological action film based on the Hindu epic Ramayana.

The film is written and directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series and Retrophiles. Shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi, the film stars Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage.

The makers of the film, reportedly made on a budget of Rs. 500 crore, launched a massive promotional campaign ahead of its release.

Sita also known as Siya, Janaki, Maithili, Vaidehi and Bhumija is a Hindu goddess and the female protagonist of the Hindu epic, Ramayana. Hindus in Nepal believe that she was born in Janakpur in Nepal.
