Kolkata/IBNS: Indian actor-director-producer Parambrata Chattopadhyay marked his directorial debut on OTT with web series 'Parnashavarir Shaap, a mythological-horror project adapted from Souvik Chakraborty's book series.

The trailer of the series, which promises to be scary, was unveiled by the makers- Hoichoi- at Kolkata's Basubati on Monday.

The series features veteran actor-politician Chiranjit Chakraborty, Gaurav Chakrabarty, Anindita Bose, Surangana Bandyopadhyay in the lead.

The story takes off with Amiya, Mitul, Pallab, and Titas, who embark on a serene journey to Chamakpur, but their idyllic vacation takes a sinister turn as eerie occurrences plague their stay. Mitul's strange behaviour hints at a malevolent force lurking, casting a chilling atmosphere over their once-tranquil getaway.

Desperate to combat this dark presence, they seek the help of occult expert, Niren Bhaduri. Together, they unearth ancient secrets, leading to a sinister past and a menacing curse. Racing against time, they must confront the ferocious entity and save their loved ones.

Speaking to IBNS, Parambrata shared he started thinking of exploring this genre over the last couple of years.

The 42-year-old, who ventured into direction in 2011 with 'Jiyo Kaka', said, "Honestly, I started reading contemporary horror stories a couple of years ago. Horror has remained my favourite genre but people were not much working on it. I realised horror is a genre which can be explored."

"I came across 'Parnashavarir Shaap' and its character Bhaduri Moshai when I started reading through some of the contemporary works. Post that, I listened to the radio story and then caught up with Souvik Chakraborty to discuss how it can be adapted."

Parambrata narrates that he faced not much trouble in having Chiranjit Chakraborty on board despite the fact the latter is busy with his political commitments.

"The story is very well written so he (Chiranjit Chakraborty) liked it instantly. I didn't face many hurdles in having him on board," Parambrata said.

The series, which the director claims to be 70-75 percent similar to the story with some basic changes, will be streaming on Hoichoi from November 10.
