Filmmaker Prashanth Neel's Telugu film 'Salaar', which stars superstar Prabhas in the lead, released on big screens on Friday.

The film is expected to earn around Rs. 48 crore on the opening day, a report by Hindustan Times said.

Set in a fictional city of Khansaar, the story revolves around Deva and Vardham, played by Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran respectively.

Apart from the two, the film features Shruti Haasan and Jagapathi Babu in the lead.

Apart from Telugu, Prabhas' film is released in four other languages, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

'Salaar', a big budget film, clashes with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's 'Dunki', in the box office.

'Dunki' released in theatres on Thursday.
