Prathmesh Sharma enjoyed working in Ishqiyoun: Have always believed that experiences are more enriching than the outcome
Mumbai: Prathmesh Sharma, who was last seen in the TV show Ziddi Dil Maane Na, will be a part of the upcoming series titled Ishqiyoun. The actor shares that he had a wonderful experience collaborating with director and producer Payal Saxena and Elixir Production for the same.
“I have always believed that experiences are more enriching than the outcome. I have seen my work already in a short screening that we had earlier. I loved the outcome but why this project will be forever close to my heart is because I got to work with such an amazing and talented team. Right from the very beginning my producer and director Payal ma’am became our guide and light. What I love about her is patience, her commitment and her dedication towards her craft! It's something to look up to. Elixir Production is a treat to work with. Very rarely does one come across a team that wants to work as a team and family,” he says.
There are reasons why Prathmesh said yes to the role. He cites his reasons one after another and also explains them.
“Considering the fact that not many people get a chance to work in this industry the moment they step in here, I was lucky enough to be offered this series. Also the fact that web shows are an in, I thought it would be good to connect with the larger audience that these platforms cater to. Thirdly, I was able to instantly connect with the character and felt that the audience was also going to connect with my character Javed because we all have one Javed in our lives. If not then there’s a lot of charm missing from one's life. Another thing is that I personally like to play characters that are more conflicted in nature than me. That really stimulates me and makes me feel as if I'm punching above my weight. Challenges are important in order to grow as a performer,” he adds.
Commenting on the title of the show, the first thing Prathmesh says is that he found it appealing.
“Well, it’s a very interesting story. We named the film after all the post production was done. This has been a major discussion while we were shooting or having a get-together with the team. So in the beginning the name of the series was Kanha, but while shooting and after having a lot of discussion we changed it to Pyaar Ki Maa Ka Loshan. Then we finally came up with Ishqiyoun. Which I feel is the perfect one for the series,” he shares the story behind how the title of the series came about.
Each new project adds value to the growth of an artist. “There's a constant push and pull that happens, something I enjoy while working on a new character. You leave a piece of yourself into a character you portray. But the character also gives you a lot in return. You end up learning a lot. It adds a new way of thinking and opens up a new layer of seeing and understanding things. It just not adds to your craft but to you too as a person,” he elucidates.
A lot of new age content is being developed these days. The fact that people are ready to experiment and audiences are ready to accept positive development, feels Prathmesh.
“Earlier, content was constricted to a very rigid creative format. A film or web series wouldn’t be guaranteed success unless it had a big star, a couple of dance sequences, and a storyline to hold the attention of audiences for 2 hours 30 min at least. But now tables have turned, the new generation is breaking stereotypes, expecting and exploring new content, which is letting the makers experiment on unexplored content. New age content is one of the most perfect examples where we can witness the interest of the new generation. Giving wings to makers to try something new and out-of-the-box,” he concludes.
