Kolkata, Nov 5 (IBNS) In a bid to take the pleasure of watching films to a new alter, Kolkata's leading entertainment platform, Priya Cinema, has geared up to provide Dolby Atmos experience to all moviegoers in the city.

Unlike Dolby Digital which had a 5.1 surround sound, Dolby Atmos has 16.1 surround sound, so there will be a major leap in effect

The 750-seat theatre at Deshapriya Park has installed 64 Dolby Atmos speakers and sub-woofers to give the audience a special movie-viewing experience.

“The audience shall get a feel of the real action because unlike Dolby Digital which had a 5.1 surround sound, Dolby Atmos has 16.1 surround sound! So there will be a quantum leap in terms of effect,” according to Arijit Dutta of the Priya Cinemas, which has spent Rs 27 lakh for the upgrade.

Priya patrons  will get the taste of this huge leap  at Priya with films like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (November 12) and Dilwale (December 18) as only such big ticket films are recorded in Dolby Atmos.

"The upgrade was done before Durga Puja, but since all films are not recorded in Dolby Atmos our audience has not experienced it yet,” said Dutta.

But Priya is now playing a teaser of Gravity with Dolby Atmos sound before the screening of films.

From Friday, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension will be playing on Dolby Atmos.

“This is being done to acclimatise Priya’s audience with the system,” said Arijit Dutta.

More such technological upgrades include the Khao App on the customers phones, who can download  and place an order from Vault or Ta’aam, the in-house restaurants at Priya  and be served within half an hour at your seat.

“ An innovation from the staple Popcorn- Cola combination  at  the  Priya will be an option of even a sumptuous lunch. A first such innovation in eastern India,” added Arijit Dutta

Another novel tie up with OLA CABS gives the cine goer an option at Priya with a coupon worth Rs 100 which can be redeemed on an Ola ride anywhere in Calcutta. Also, if you book your Ola from Priya you will get a discount of Rs 500 for your first ride.

That apart, a portion of Priya is set for a makeover. The lobbies will have a touch of leather and wood, a rich retro-royal look and added will be the 20 classic seats in the auditorium will become fully recliner.
