Rishi Kapoor slams Anurag basu over Jagga Jasoos, calls him "irresponsible"
The senior Kapoor made the comment in an interview to the Mid-day.
The film, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in lead roles, was released on July 14 but failed to shine in the box office so far.
The senior Kapoor saw the film a day before the release but seemed to be extremely disappointed with the way the director as well as the music director Pritam Chakraborty handled the film.
In the interview, he said: "Honestly, Neetu [wife] and I saw the film on Thursday, only a day ahead of the release. Till Wednesday, Anurag Basu was still mixing the film. Can you imagine that? Pritam [composer] probably delivered the music only a week before. What can you say? You (Basu) don’t take an opinion from anybody... He’s such an irresponsible director that he doesn’t complete the film. It was supposed to release three times in the past two years, but it kept getting delayed."
He even poured out his anger over Basu for not showing the film to Ranbir before the release, who is the co-producer of Jagga Jasoos.
"But here, Ranbir is the producer too, and his neck is in the noose. Who the hell are you [Basu] to do all this? It is ridiculous that a producer hadn’t seen his product a day ahead of the film’s release. You may be the biggest director in the world but nobody would like to work with you because you are irresponsible. There is somebody else’s money involved in this. I trusted you, and this is what you give us? Ranbir hasn’t held back on spending money on it," the veteran actor said.
Jagga Jasoos is the second film directed by Basu where Ranbir took part in it. Earlier, he was seen in Barfi! back in 2012.
Though Barfi! won heart of the viewers, Jagga Jasoos failed to capture the market strongly.
According to the Quint, the film could earn just Rs 430 million till July 23 while the making cost was Rs. 1.1 billion.
