Spiderman: Sony Pictures 'disappointed' over Disney split
Los Angeles, Aug 21 (IBNS): Leaving several movie lovers heavy-hearted, Sony Pictures, the studio that owns the rights to comic book character Spider-Man, has split with Disney and that will make the iconic superhero no more featuring in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In a statement, Disney said that they are 'dissapointed' by the fact Disney made the proposal to scale down the involvement of Marvel president Kevin Feige in the movies.
"Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise. We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film," Sony Pitures tweeted.
Sony, however, hoped that things will change in future.
"We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own," Sony Pictures said.

Following the development, actor Tom Holland might not been seen in new Marvel movies.

As per BBC report, the film rights to the superhero are owned by Sony - but he could appear in movies like Avengers: Endgame due to a deal between Sony and Marvel Studios - owned by Disney.
