You are a hero on and off screen: Alia Bhatt praises Samantha Ruth Prabhu at Jigra event

Hyderabad/IBNS: Telugu film star Samantha Ruth Prabhu joined Bollywood's leading lady Alia Bhatt at a pre-release event of the latter's upcoming movie, Jigra.

Samantha along with actor Rana Daggubati and director Trivikram Srinivas were invited to Jigra's Telugu pre-release event held in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

In some of the videos that went viral on social media, Samantha was seen walking into the event and hugging Alia as the two massively popular actresses share some clickworthy moments.

In her address, Alia praised Samantha lauding her achievements as well as requested director Trivikram Srinivas to cast the two in a film.

"My dearest Samantha, rightfully so, you are a hero on and off screen. I have so much admiration for your talent, resilience, strength. It's not easy to be a woman in a man's world. But you have surpassed gender. You stand tall on your two feet," Alia said.

"They (people) say usually actresses compete with each other but there is no such thing. I am grateful to have a pan-India superstar here to support my film and say such kind words for my film," she added.

Alia also sang Oo Antava, a dance number by Samantha from hugely popular film Pushpa: The Rise.

As Alia tried to sing while reading the lines on mobile phone, Samantha looked at her seemingly amazed by the act.

Alia's Jigra, which co-stars one-film old Vedang Raina, is a story of sibling love.

The film, which is directed by Vasan Bala and produced jointly by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Alia's Eternal Sunshine, releases in theatres on October 11.
